Who We Are

Now in our third decade, Shir Chadash: The Brooklyn Jewish Community Chorus is a four-part chorus with over forty members. Our repertoire is inspired by the richness and diversity of Jewish music from around the globe, ranging from moving liturgical pieces to contemporary compositions and updated arrangements of world folk music in many languages. The chorus is directed by the multi-talented Scott Stein.

Shir Chadash is a true community chorus  diverse and unaffiliated with any denomination. Our members come from over 20 different synagogues, and many are unaffiliated with any other Jewish institution.

Shir Chadash has participated in a wide range of concerts, from festivals to solo recitals and fundraising benefits. Shir Chadash’s mission is to challenge, enrich, and delight our singing members and audiences through the excellence of our performances.

The chorus meets for rehearsals September through June on Tuesdays from 7:30-9:30 pm at the Park Slope Jewish Center on the corner of 8th Avenue and 14th Street in Brooklyn.

New members are always welcome.
